Always enjoyed Cussler's Dirk Pitt adventures. A rival for Fleming's Bond, or Donald Hamilton's Matt Helm. The mixture of adventure, sex and exotic cars and planes made them an excellent read.
The Mediterranean Caper --- by --- Clive Cussler.
“Caper” treats us to another of Cusslers macho novels featuring the improbable adventures of Pitt and Giordino, this time, as they are in quest of a Teaser, a fish long thought to be extinct. The locale for this story is among the Greek islands. The props include remote controlled submarines; mountains of illicit drugs; Greek cops; one labyrinth; one WW I biplane; prerequisite under-clad irresistible damsel; an exotic Maybach-Zeppelin, a vintage car not a vintage dirigible; and a terribly nasty, loathable WW II nazi: the usual ingredients for an opus Cusslerus. Tremendously enjoyable even though the plot verges on the presumptuously outrageous. Of the same cut as 007. Enjoy.
I like the beginning and how dirk shoots down the other plane, and in the end how this huge gang gets token down this book kept me flipping the pages for a long time, this book was awesome!
The book was okay – but not one of my favorites.
