How did an 89-year old grandmother turn a chance encounter into a revolution? In a small country town in Canada in 2004, ex-pat Australian Norma Geggie had a glimmer of an idea-a plan to support grandmothers in South Africa who had lost their children to AIDS and struggled to support their grandchildren. The idea took off and soon grew to involve thousands of grannies who combined efforts to help their bereft counterparts living in poverty in townships across South Africa. This is an uplifting tale of connection between people living half a world apart.
