The book format is only slightly larger than a standard paperback and unfortunately uses some tiny fonts and includes extra white space which makes it very difficult to read and to see picture details.

In presenting "essential" knots I would have omitted many of the variants included in this book. Including many variants is interesting from a cataloging perspective but some are even labeled as "use: none" which I don't see as "essential". Often knots groups have a few that stand out above the others and learning those, even if intermediate level, means you don't have to remember 5 or 6 more common but lesser knots. Along those lines I think some superior and easy knots are not included in this book, although one can always debate what should be included. Fortunately there are brief pros and cons for each knot in the book so you can quickly see which included ones are worth learning.

I am glad to see the inclusion of the Zeppelin/Rosendahl bend. Unfortunately it is presented as a daunting, anatomical spaghetti and there are simpler and easier to remember methods to tie this excellent knot.
