Mrs. Ruler guides her students in discovering ways of being kind to their family members, their community, and each other. When Mrs. Ruler asks five of her kindergarteners to miss recess, she's got a special plan up her sleeve. She's about to teach a new golden rule: Kindness is cool! Soon the entire class is doing so many good deeds that their kindness bulletin board barely fits their classroom! From clearing the table after dinner, to helping the elderly, one kindergarten class is proving that kids really can make a difference. Count along with Mrs. Ruler's class. Can all their good deeds really add up to 100 acts of kindness?

As a teacher to young children in grades K-1, I have found this book to be surprisingly compelling for the children to whom I teach "upstander" skills. From the interactions we've had, I have been able to discern that they enjoy that the book takes place in a busy classroom with kids that get it, and others who are not all the way on board, that it involves a lot of fun rhymes, and that the notion of putting forth effort in reaching a common goal - snowballs - and expands - to reach beyond the walls of their own immediate lives - into the greater community. I've polled young audiences to check and see who helps out with pets, laundry, general cleaning, or meals on a regular basis...and lo and behold, not all children are recruited to participate in all those tasks at home or school. The book is both engaging, inspiring, and gives them new ideas!

Not one of the Author's better books . And some of the acts of kindness are just common sense and what a child should be doing in a family anyhow , Author has better books than this one .

Far too long for my 5 and 7 year old boys. And some of the Acts of Kindness are not acts of kindness but things children should do anyway.
