Theodore Olson and David Boies on Same-Sex Marriage

Unknown - 2010
Rate this:
Theodore Olson, one of the nation's premier appellate and United States Supreme Court advocates, and David Boies, one of the country's preeminent trial lawyers, argued opposite sides for the fate of the 2000 election in Bush v. Gore but teamed up in the fight to overturn California's Proposition 8 ballot measure outlawing same-sex marriage. In this edition of the Journal, Bill Moyers sits down with them to discuss why this unexpected duo have taken on the hot-button issue-even above the objections of some gay rights activists, and why they don't believe that same-sex marriage is strictly a political right-or-left issue. In addition, Moyers honors the memory of award-winning poet Lucille Clifton.
